I missed Halloween

Got back home at 8pm last night from having surgery. Feeling much better today but have a bit of congestion. But I remember from being put out before that is common.
So, I am trying to drink lots of water and cough. I can't eat any halloween candy.
In fact, I am limited to cottage cheese, yogurt, popcycles (and those kind of bother my throat) They just said, do not eat anything spicy. Meat does not go down. I tried a scrambled egg and that was impossible. I will try soft boiled egg tomorrow.
This is all familiar from my tonsillectomy at age 21. I bet I was the oldest patient having their tonsils out ever.

Ok, back to reading my book. I made sure I had a very interesting book to come home to. But I miss my birds. I snuck out while my husband was at the store. He has been putting the sunflower seed out for me. bye for now. No photographs. Not up to that yet.

For someone special

Snow falling falling
Gifts from the sky
Sea spray coating my hair
and eyes, I breathe and sigh.
I need natures gifts to get high.

I hear an owl singing my song,
he knows my name and where from
I came. It's a sad wavering song
but it's mine.

Breathe in the flowers perfume,
smell the green of the woods,
Wait for the first light of day,
and the first bird song.

Minor surgery tomorrow.

I might be absent without leave for a few days. I will try to post as soon as possible. Just going by the tonsillectomy I had at age 21, this won't be a fun recovery. We just came back from visiting our new grandbaby in Pensacola, fl. She is a real beauty. I might be just a tad prejudice. Ha. The trip was nice. Good to get away from here once in a while. And always nice to come home. I always worry about my flower garden, and wonder did we get any rain. My dishwasher just died. I seem to ruin dishwashers. This is my second one in sixteen years. I am hard on appliances. I don't load them properly. But I always rinse the dishes very well. I actually enjoy washing dishes. Well, I have to go up to CVS and pick up my pain prescription. Later. Here is the new baby with family.

Felicity Eden

I am a grandmother again. It has been fourteen years since our daughter made us grandparents. My son Robert and Miranda now have a baby girl. We hope to drive over to Pensacola next week before my surgery and meet her. I think she looks like both of them. She is certainly very alert for a newborn.
We are having leftover pork tenderloin sandwiches for dinner. It is even better the second night. My mother in law used to say she could feed another family with what I throw out. I try not to waste food anymore. When I was little and my brother would not eat his vegetables, my Dad would say, "There are children starving somewhere in
the world and going hungry tonight." It never worked. He still went to bed without his dinner or dessert. One time I cried because my Father made Ben go to bed with no dinner because he would not eat what we were having. I am very close to my brother.
I feel like he is all I have left. I want him to move back to Florida. But now with the housing market in the crapper, it may be a while before he can sell his house in Colorado.
I am thinking about taking a Yoga class. (did you hear that?) The Senior club down
in Palatka offers Yoga. I used to be very flexible. Not so much anymore.
Here is Felicity. I can't believe she is real. More photographs to follow when I go visit and take my own.

I am a widow. Not really but it feels like it.

My husband is on call this week, weekend and next week. I am eating dinner alone.
And it is a dinner that is hard to warm up. Barbeque pork tenderloin and pan roasted potatoes. You can't really warm it back up. So, I will try and just keep it warm in the oven. Have I said that I hate his job. I should have married a banker. You know one of those nine to five kind of jobs. Oh well, more for me. But since my stress level went up, my appetite just went right out the window.
We had the most beautiful sunrise this morning. I wish I could see the sunset where I live but the woods to the West block it from my vision. Good thing I was thinking about the dinner because I completely forgot to put the sauce on the meat half way through. Since no one is going to be here, it doesn't matter. I will just cook it about fifteen minutes longer.
I am a Grandma. I have a new grandbaby, Felicity Eden, six pounds, 15 ounces and 22 inches long, born Oct 18th at 11:30pm. Baby and Mom doing fine. Even my son seems
calm. Of course he will be 40 years old when his daughter turns six. I don't understand why people are having babies so much later. It's a known fact that your eggs are healthier when you are younger. Why take chances. I will post a photograph of the baby whenever I have one.
Ok, I took a break as my daughter called me. She is planning on moving back to Florida from Missouri. I will be so glad. And my husband made it home at 8:30 and we just ate the pork tenderloin. It was really good. My daughter told me I need to eat to keep my energy up. Now I am watching Primeval on BBC. Very scary show.
Here is my sunrise. See you tomorrow.

I have a new neighbor

It is a baby possum. He is very small. But he can run up a tree like lightening.
Good thing because I have a big dog who is fast and keeps tracking him to the tree.
We are having nice Fall weather in the morning in the fifties. And the highs in the lower eighties. Finally some Fall weather. My foxglove in the garden is still blooming. The other plants have no buds but I am still hopeful.
Watching David Letterman right now and waiting to see McCain come on. Sunday the high is supposed to be 72. That sounds fantastic.
Saw my doctor today. My weight was 156. I have had some extra stress in my life and not had much appetite. At this rate I will get to my goal weight of 140 in no time. I want my BMI to be 23 or 24. And to think for years I only weighed 120 pounds.
My son's baby will be induced on Friday. I am not a big fan of inducing labor but that
is their decision. Or their doctors. I guess they are trying to avoid a C-section. Sure did not hear about so many C-sections in my day.
Here is my possum and my foxglove. I hope I can start updating this once a week.
